DAY 5
J: Welcome to the park orientation. Let’s talk about fire safety. First, if you saw a wildfire what would you do?
S: I think I call 911. I really hope there aren’t any wildfires.
J: Just call 911. Now, let’s talk about wild animals. What kind of food is best to feed wild animals?
S: Maybe some dog food? I think the answer is crackers.
J: Oh, trick question! Never give food to wild animals. Next question. What is the most dangerous kind of wild animal to get close to?
S: In Wyoming, maybe a bear or a mountain lion.
J: Be especially careful when you see baby animals. The mother might attack you, especially bears. So, if a bear came right in front of you, what would you do?
S: Well, that’s pretty scary. I run away I guess. Or should we stay still?
J: Well, for bears, remember never run, never scream, never make eye contact, just walk away slowly. Did you get that? Repeat it back to me. When you see a bear, never... Go ahead.
S: Never run. Never scream. Never make eye contact. Just walk away slowly.
J: Great job! Enjoy nature safely and have a great time in Wyoming.
S: I will. Thanks for the safety tips.
