My cosmos survived （コスモスが生きていた）

I planted cosmos seeds in the spring.
（春に、私はコスモスの種をまきました）

Some of them sprouted and kept growing.
（いくつか芽が出て、育ってきました）

They have grown quite thick.
（それはかなり太くなりました）

However, a few days ago, they were blown down by strong winds.
（ところが、数日前、強風で倒れてしまいました）

The main stems seem to have almost snapped off.
（一番元の茎がほとんど折れてしまったようでした）

I was disappointed.
（がっかりしました）

I wasn’t sure whether they were still alive or not.
（そのコスモスがまだ生きているのかどうか、わかりませんでした）

This morning, I found some of their stalks standing upright with some flowers.
（今朝、それの小さな茎の部分が立ち上がって、いくつか花までつけているのを見つけました）

I’m impressed with the strength of the plants.
（その植物の強さに感動しました）
