出題されるものと思い、勉強しておりました。

　二人しかいないので、４としました。

　典型的な文例です。最後が　the other.

　グループが二つだけに分かれるわけではないので、３です。他のグループもある。
D It is one thing to own a library ; it is quite (　１.another　　) to use it wisely.
　A is one thing, B isanothe.「ＡとＢは別物」成句？
E 彼には人の気持ちがわからない。
　He doesn't understand the feelings of (　２.others　　).
　他の人と解釈、feelingsから　otherではなく、othersを選択しました。

not tell one from ... っていう文意がいまいちわかりませんが、anotherは間違い。otherは名詞になれない。one from ...だからthe otherってのも文意がおかしくなるのではないかと。「他にこれだけクリソツな事例をしらない」ってことだと判断し、「他にもあるかも知れないけど、あおの二人はオレ史上、アタシ史上最大のクリソツ度だよ。君もそう思うでしょ？」っていう叙述だと判断。

＊先に、自分で調べてわかりました。なるほどなるほど、TELLってことは誰かに何かを告げる事だから、それは見方を変えれば…っていうsceneでも使う事ができるってですね。「調べたら受験のときにそういうのやったかも」って、思い出したってことは、まだ読み込んでいる英文量が足りてないってことですね。

B.４
otherは形容詞で名詞としての用法はなかったはず。３人いる中で、othersは考えられない。少なくとも４人いる必要がある。anotherは後ろに続く動詞がlivesなら正解。動詞 live から判断すると、残りの２人が ny に住んでいる、つまり4.the othersが正解。穴埋めならではのテクニカルな問題。

C.3
一般的ないくつかある趣向のグルーピングを説明する時の文。TOEICでも頻出パターン。不特定多数のうちのいくつかをsome ＋名詞であらわし、続く節を some ... あるいは others で表す。と思ったが、文をよく読むと、一般的ないくつかのグループを前提にして、そこから抽出したグルーピングについての話ではなく、この場合、外に出て映画を見るか、部屋でテレビを観るかの対照的な行動の２択的な選択肢について叙述していると読めないこともない。てことはthe others? とも思ったけど、それはヒッカケ過ぎだと判断し、３. othersで回答。２は文法的におかしい。

　Some of love red wine, while others love Nihon-shu.とか、そういう本質的には同じグループ（酒好き）で、そのうちいくつかが赤ワイン派、ビール派、焼酎派っていういくつかグルーピングに分かれるっていうのが想定できるのがいい。細かい話、この問題は２択としても捉えられる。他にあるとしたら、…カラオケ派？

D.１

と仮定してみました。
まず、it is quite なのだから３の複数形、othersはない。otherも叙述形容詞にはなれないからなし。セミコロンを順接で繋ぐのか、逆接で繋ぐのか、言い回しを理解していないと解けない。だから、わからりません。

●quiteはその後に続く形容詞を強調する副詞。
●one thing = a thing
●このセミコロンは順接？
●another の後にはthing が省略されている

以上から、「図書館を所有するのは一つの手段だが、有効な手段の一つに過ぎない。」という訳になるのか？と仮定して1。the otherを使って逆接で繋げば、最後の手段みたいなニュアンスになるのかとも思いましたが、quite the otherってのが引っかかりました。迷ったあげく1。

E.2
1は文法的になし。４は文意がおかしくなる。２と３が残って、collocationの問題として、others。the feelings of peoplesって、何かおかしい気がする。一般的に feeling は peopleの概念だし、peoplesっていうといくつかの人種、民族、ある複数のグループをイメージすることもあるので、違和感あり。the feelings of のtheに注目したい。この文脈でなら、not understand the othersはしっくりくるので。

全く自信なしです・・。

A - 4. the other 二人しかいないので残りは特定の一人になりそう。自信なし。
B - 4. the others 3人のうちの特定の二人なので the がいる。
C - 3. others 映画に行くのが好きじゃない人全員じゃないので the はいらない。
D - 1. another 別の新しいものとして出てくるから。自信なし。
E - 2. others 3. peoples と迷いました。

慣用表現としてあるのは知っているので選べましたが、文法からのアプローチが不明。
単数形のため、3はなし。所有する、使う以外の方法があるだろうと思って4は除外。
otherは、漠然としすぎている感じがするので、結果として1に落ち着いたのですが、気持ち悪さが残ります。解答が楽しみです。

複数形には絞りこめたのですが、peoplesは複数形の場合、人々ではなく、複数の国民、民族の意味になるので意味からして除外。でも文法的な選択方法があるのでしょうか。
