※翌日学校で、Chadがあのまま行方不明になっていると知ったTamayaは、責任を感じて一人でChadを探しに森へ入っていきます。

project：to throw or direct something forwards, with force:
gully：a ravine formed by the action of water.
prop up：lean something against something else.
yank off：to remove something, like a piece of cloth or bread, by tearing it with one quick strong pull.
muck：dirt, rubbish, or waste matter.
fuzz：loose, light, fibrous, or fluffy matter
momentum：the impetus gained by a moving object.

※なぜか森じゅうに増えているFuzzy Mudのぬかるみにおびえつつ、傷だらけになりながらChadを呼び続けるTamaya。ついにChadを見つけますが、その姿は・・・。

raspy：hoarse or harsh-sounding.
crust：form into a hard outer layer.
pus：a thick yellowish or greenish opaque liquid produced in infected tissue, consisting of dead white blood cells and bacteria with tissue debris and serum. 膿（うみ）
His face was mass of blisters crusted with pus and dried blood.

whimper：make a series of low, feeble sounds expressive of fear, pain, or unhappiness.

※Jonathan Fitzmanが SunRay Farmで人工的に作り出した微生物Biolineは将来の燃料として有望だとされたが、Tamayaはじめその地域で爆発的に広がった皮膚の病に関係があるのではないかと、問題になります。

※顔中腫れて目も見えない状態でうずくまっているChadに、Tamayaは持ってきた自分の弁当を与えます。

revulsion： a sense of disgust and loathing.

diagonally： in a straight and sloping way that is not horizontal or vertical, for example joining two opposite corners of a square or other flat shape with four sides:

※目がほとんど見えないChadを木の枝で導いて、Tamayaは来た道を戻り始めます。しかし、谷を渡るときにFuzzy Mudのぬかるみに落ちてしまいます。Chadは、後からやってきたMarshallとともになんとかTamayaを引っ張り上げます。

give way：collapse or break.
somersault：an acrobatic movement in which a person turns head over heels in the air or on the ground and lands or finishes on their feet.
To perform a somersault, or make a similar movement accidentally.
tentative：hesitant, uncertain

※しかし、全身にFuzzy Mudを浴びたTamayaは、靴や靴下を失い、目もほとんど見えなくなり、裸足で歩いたために足も痛めてしまいます。
Marshallが間に入ってChadとTamayaを支えながら歩きます。やがて、捜索隊の犬たちが彼らを見つけ、３人は救助されます。

throb：to produce a strong, regular beat ずきずき痛む
wince：make a slight involuntary grimace or shrinking movement of the body out of pain or distress.

※３ヶ月後、Fuzzy Mudによる未知の伝染病は知られるところとなり、患者は爆発的に増え、町はロックダウン。原因は燃料にするために人工的に作られたBiolineという微生物が変異したものではないかと疑われます。
治療法もなく、ただ毎日何度も体を洗うことだけ。病院は

freak out ：to become very anxious, upset, or afraid, or make someone very anxious, upset, or afraid
hazmat suit：a piece of clothing that covers the entire body and other clothing, worn to protect against dangerous substances such as poisonous chemicals or infectious viruses 化学防護服

※これは動物にも感染し、多くのペットが安楽死させられます。ところが、カメにだけは感染しないことがわかり、そこから治療薬を作ることに成功します。
Tamaｙaたちを最初に見つけた捜索犬は全身の毛が抜け水ぶくれだらけ、目も耳も不自由になっていました。その犬にまず治療薬を注射して試験、それが成功したため、人間としては最初にTamayaに注射されることになります。

※幸いなことに、新薬はTamayaにも効いて、回復に向かいます。
そして、寒い冬が来て雪が降り続き、森の中のFuzzy Mudの微生物、いわゆるFrankengermsはその低温のためにすべて死滅した、と発表されます。

lumberjack：(especially in North America) a person who fells trees, cuts them into logs, or transports them to a sawmill. きこり
glob：a lump of a semi-liquid substance
goo：a sticky or slimy substance
membrane：a thin sheet of tissue or layer of cells acting as a boundary, lining, or partition in an organism.膜
pockmark：a pitted scar or mark on the skin left by a pustule or spot. あばた
oxymoron：a figure of speech in which apparently contradictory terms appear in conjunction 撞着語法（どうちゃくごほう）

※すっかり回復したTamayaとMarshallは、まだ入院中のChadを見舞います。ふたりの粋な計らいに感動したChadは、Marshallを抱きしめます。

ward：a separate room in a hospital, typically one allocated to a particular type of patient.
rigid：unable to bend or be forced out of shape; not flexible.
clasp：grasp (something) tightly with one's hand.
