この設問【2】の英文は、仮に適切な動詞の形を選んだとしてもおかしいのではないでしょうか？

I was walking through a corridor when I heard piano playing from that room.

　だったら、いいように思います。不定冠詞の a (corridor) と前置詞の from の使い方が変な感じがします。

間違っているという自信はないので、native のスタッフの方に確認して頂けるとうれしいです。



それから、

【1】 I saw the cat (cross / crossing) the street.

　で、cross を使うときと crossing を使うときとの違いは、「動作の一部始終」の知覚と「動作の一部」の知覚の違いであると記述している文法書が多いように思うのですが、これは「相」(Grammatical Aspect) の違いだと理解したほうがよいように思います。つまり「終結相」と「継続相 or 進行相」との違いという理解です。

上 (↑) にあげた英文では a), b) だけが「知覚動詞」を使ったものですが、それ以外の c) ～ j) の英文を理解するにあたっても、a), b) の違い = c), d) の違い = e), f) の違い = g), h) の違い = i), j) の違いと理解できるので、「相」として理解すると「知覚動詞」の場合意外にでも応用が効くのではないかと思うのですがどうでしょうか？

上の記述に補足させて頂きます。

a) I saw it happen.

b) I saw it happening.

a), b) の文型はSVOC で、 it は目的語、happen / happening は補語になります。

ここでの補語 C は it という目的語の目的語補語 (Object complement) であり、また saw という主動詞の動詞補語 (Verb complement) でもありますね。



c), d), e), f) のように述語動詞部に「相」の違いが表れることの方が普通ですが、a), b), g), h), i), j) のように「目的語補語」もしくは「動詞補語」の中に動詞の形をとるものの中にも「相」の違いが表れるというわけです。







以下は「ジーニアス英和辞典」の見出し項目 be にある例文からの引用です。

be 〔助動詞〕(1) [be doing] b) [一定期間を表す語句とともに用いて]

　(最近) …… している《◆ 一時的習慣を表す》

Mary is sitting up late this week to prepare for her finals.

　(今週メリーは期末 [最終] 試験の準備のために夜おそくまで起きている)

　　(↑ 以上、引用)

この英文では、this week という１週間の寝ている間や夜以外の時間は継続してないにしても、毎晩毎晩夜更かしが繰り返されているということが言い表されています。



たとえば、設問の【8】

I don't want you (waking) me up so early.

　の場合は、こういう繰り返しのニュアンスを出したもので、

I don't want you to wake me up tomorrow morning.

　(明日の朝は起こさないでほしい)

　という場合には、doing ではなく do を、「進行相 or 継続相」でなく「終結相」を使うということになる ………… と、こういう文法だと思います。

　は、正しい英文なのですね。from でなくて in しか使えないような気がしたのですが、わたしが間違っていたのが分かってよかったです。from の使い方の理解が少し深まったような気がします。

＞pianoの前に a か the があればOK
- 「ピアノの音が聞こえた」という場合には、
I heard a piano playing from that room. や、
I heard the piano playing from that room.
　というように a や the が必要なのですね。

music が不可算なので、piano も「ピアノの音」という意味で不可算名詞的な使い方ができるのだろうという間違えた理解をしていました。
