Have you ever brought anything at an auction?

I have bought 33 items before.

All of them were in good condition so that I think I'm a good shopper.

Four nights ago, I find a DVD player that I was looking for at Yahoo auction.

The owner says that the player works well.
I believed that.

Last night, It's delivered by Haco Boon(a delivery company).

I open the box of the player.

It is clean and looks perfect.

I'm lucky, I thought...

I turn on the player and push the eject button.

something is worng.
wait and wait....

Seriously?

The cd tray can't open so that can't eject or retract at all.

What bad luck! It's broken.

I think his packing wasn't good and it was broken transit.

I e-mail him this problem.

Fortunately, the owner is so polite and our e-mail correspondence went smoothly.

He promised he is going to refund the full price.

I'm relieved to hear that but while at the same time I felt a little sad.

It was supposed to be my best buy.

これが、「私の言っていることがわかりましたか」という意味なら、誤りです。

日本語は「わかりましたか」といいますが、教室などで先生が質問するときには、Did ではなく　Do you know....... で「わかりましたか」
　　Do you understand......

と言うのではないでしょうか。

原文の中で「時制」が統一されていませんが、これは理由があってそうなさったのですか。

過去の話やけど現在形を使うことででテンポよくいきたかったんだけど、
中途半端になってわけわかんなくなｔってる、、、状況。

By the way, this is my own feeling after I read your sentences.
Just as reference….
“Correct me if I'm wrong, if you have time.”
This sentence makes me think you are a polite person.
However...,
“Do you know what I mean?”
This one to me is OK, because I'm your friend.
But, in public place, it may provide a feeling of strangeness with someone; just I guess through my experience in overseas business in English.
When you offer your politeness, I just recommend you this sentence “I hope it makes sense to you.”
Of course, there are countless sentences of English in the English-speaking world.
So, finally you may as well define the best sentence by yourself as the situation demands.

Actually after that I wrote " Do you know what I mean?" , I felt the sentense was not polite. yes. really.
