最初は、ごちそうという意味の feast と勘違いして読んでいて、あれ?となっていましたw

ability の冠詞は迷いそう。
でも ability to do something は countable とあるから、やっぱり必要っぽいですね。

feast はすっかり忘れてました。iknow で見かけた記憶があります。

後から追記したんですが、偉業を成し遂げるような素晴らしい能力だったら、
ただの an ability じゃなくて、
you possess a talent to accomplish ... とか
you are gifted to accomplish ... とかの方がいいんでしょうかね。

ここで、それは~のほうがいいんだよ!と言えるとカッコいいんだけど、さっぱりわからないですw
仕方がないのでコーパスを見ると ability to accomplish ってよく使われてそうでしたよ。

ありがとうございます(^-^)

今更ですが、talent も gift も、 ability よりもすばらしい能力を意味するのだ、
と勘違いした上での私の質問でした。
よく両者の定義を見てみると、どちらも a natural ability となっているので、
天性のとか、生まれつきというのがポイントで、
特に優れた能力を意味するわけではなかったのですね。
