ledge [noun]
1 : a narrow, flat surface that sticks out from a wall
・a window ledge
・birds perched on the ledge of a building
2 : a flat rock surface that sticks out from a cliff
・a ledge on the side of the mountain
1.⇒薄くて平らで壁から飛び出ている部分(棚のように)
2.⇒がけから飛び出ている平らな岩場

＜Examples by gyutaku＞
A man is sitting on a window ledge and working with a laptop.
⇒男性が窓の下枠に腰掛けてノートパソコンで仕事をしています。

The man on the ledge of the building seemed to be trying to escape from there.
⇒ビルの(外側の)棚の上の男性は、そこから逃げようとしているようでした。

今日の単語とは関係ないのですが、 escape は、
「(物が誰かに)思い出してもらえない⇒(物を)思い出せない」とか
「(物が誰かに)気づいてもらえない⇒(物に)気づかない」という
意味で使うことができるそうです。
面白いと思ったので書いてみました。
