youTubeでおべんきょう ～modal auxiliary verbs 助動詞
日本の英語文法の「助動詞」は、英語で言われているhelping verbまたはauxiliary verbよりは、
やや意味が狭いように感じます。
modal auxiliary verbに限定して、お勉強していきたいと思います。
subject + modal verb + base verb
modal verbs of probability 可能性を示す助動詞
to express the degree of probability
must ～にちがいない ⇔ cannot ～であるはずがない ➡ very sure
could ～である可能性が高い
might ～かもしれない ⇔ might not ～でないかもしれない ➡ not sure

ask for permission

can をoveruseしてはだめ！
お願いをするときは、may、couldなどがよい。
過去の可能性をしめすときは、助動詞も過去にするのがより一般的。
➡これ、日本の学校文法ではあまりやらないと思いました。
