私からは2つ。
動詞、意味はひとつ

正解は、deter でした。
他の単語と意味を勘違いしてしまいました＾＾；
名詞

正解は、majority でした。
私は３と４の意味は知りませんでした。
3の意味では英国ではこちらですが、米国では plurality が使われるそうです。
２つともBBC News のシリアの対する動議否決のニュースからでした。

これだけで十分でした。答えは⇒catch
２つ目
★動詞
to die out, as a fire.
to emit the last breath; die.
to come to an end; terminate, as a contract, guarantee, or offer
to breathe out.
「死ぬ」にこだわっていると、なかなか正解が出ません。
正解は⇒expire

最初の単語は、dissuadeまたはdiscourageかと思いました。
dissuade=to persuade someone not to do something
discourage=to make someone feel less confident, enthusiastic, and positive about something, or less willing to do something
