I have recently watched it in India too. The couple (the parents) was very lovely. I couldn't catch all words like you, but still it was a good movie. I am trying to read the book but I have stopped at a point for some reason.



My friends and I used to play the parody of the part that the father is trying to tell the second reason of his son's name. We make serious voice and say,



"There is another reason of your name" (or something sorry I don't remember well)



"What is it, Dad?"



"Your name banana is named after banana because I love banana so much"



Or something like this. It's just stupid though.

I would like to know how Indian people feel when they see it.

The parents in this movie seem to keep Indian spirit and custom although they have lived in America for more than they did in India.

I was impressed.



About names, I think name is very important for everyone. I remember the scene that Gogol felt bad when his wife talked about his name with her friends. I empashized with him.

Your interest got my interest too. Yeah I should ask Indian people in the office how they felt about the movie. Will inform you when I get good comments.



A small beauty salon's onwer once said she met the actor who played Gogol, and said he was a very funny guy. But I suppose he is an Indian American.
